With the new Match line, the shipyard from Giebelstadt wants to create an image change towards more sportiness. The performance cruiser is a challenge to X-Yachts and Bénéteau's First line in particular.
No one had ever sailed the 38 Match in the carbon mast and carbon Kevlar sail configuration until the beginning of July, not even the designers themselves.
In this configuration, the boat, construction number 0, is to fetch silver pots under the leadership of Markus Wieser.
YACHT online shows the first pictures and a video of the Bavaria 38 Match. A detailed test report will be published in Issue 15/03 , on newsstands from 16 July.
But this much in advance: What the Giebelstädter have put on the dock could be the (re-)entry into regatta sailing for sporty, ambitious owners. And for all those who are not interested in the hustle and bustle of racing, it is a fully-fledged touring yacht.
